ANKARA (AFP). - Tension rises in Syrian crisis after NATO announced it will deploy missiles near the southern border of Turkey to deter Assad's regime attacks.
NATO today said it would deploy Patriot anti-missile systems in the region to shore up defenses against the threat of cross-border attacks from Syria, this new strain will drag the U.S. and its allies closer to a civil war that raged between President Bashar Assad's regime and rebel forces.
It also raises a presumption that the U.S. military is ready for military action "within days" if the Assad regime to use its chemical weapons stockpile.
According to sources dikutiip The Times, the Pentagon is prepared to respond if Assad using chemical weapons against the rebel forces trying to take over Damascus. (Aya/A-107) ***
